Can Physical Problems Be Caused By #Demons ?

Often in the Bible, people who were controlled by demons expressed behavioral problems. When Saul was troubled by an evil spirit, he expressed extreme jealousy, and tried to kill David. The Gadarene demoniac took off all his clothes, ran naked through the tombs day and night, cut himself with stones, and refused to be subdued by anyone. On another occasion, a father told Jesus an evil spirit would often throw his son into the fire, water, or harm's way. It also caused him to have seizures, and foam at the mouth. A demon possessed fortune telling girl followed Paul and other evangelists around for days, harassing them. One demon controlled man in Acts, overpowered the seven sons of Sceva, and gave them such a beating that they ran from the house "naked and bleeding".

In a few cases, however, it seems demons also caused people to have what appear to be physical problems.
Paul said God allowed an evil spirit to trouble him "in the flesh", to keep him humble. In one case, a demon caused a person to be unable to speak. And in Luke 13, it was apparently an agent of Satan who caused a woman to be "disabled" and bent over for 18 years.

Luke 13:10-13 NIrV
Jesus was teaching in one of the synagogues on a Sabbath day. [11] A woman there had been disabled by an evil spirit for 18 years. She was bent over and could not stand up straight. [12] Jesus saw her. He asked her to come to him. He said to her, "Woman, you will no longer be disabled. I am about to set you free." [13] Then he put his hands on her. Right away she stood up straight and praised God.
It seems, then, that demon possession can evidence itself in both behavioral and physical problems. What amazes me, is that the Bible says people brought to Jesus, "their demon possessed". It's as if demon possession or influence on people was not just some rare, isolated case, but a more common problem that people knew about.

Today, it seems like every behavioral and physical problem is justified as some kind of disease or genetic defect. In the Bible, these kinds of problems are said to come from a variety of sources. Jesus said one man was born blind neither because he nor his parents sinned, but so the saving power of God could be demonstrated in his life. In the case of the disabled man at Bethesda, Jesus told him to go and "sin no more", lest a worse things happen to him. Then we have cases of both behavioral and physical problems that were caused by demonic influence.

In every case, Jesus is the common solution. His power immediately healed and set people free, from terrible problems and forces that had plagued them for decades without remedy.

The Gospel

Have you heard Christ died for our sins, and God raised Him from the dead? Did you know God saves you from hell and gives you eternal life through faith in this finished work alone, not your merits (Jn. 3:16; 1 Cor. 15:1-3; Eph. 2:8-10; 2 Thess. 1:8-9)? This is so man cannot boast, and God alone gets the glory (Eph. 2:8-9).

The grand purpose of creation is to bring glory and pleasure to God in Christ (Eph. 1:1-10; Rev. 4:11). The gospel of Christ's death and resurrection for our sins, achieves this goal by magnifying God's grace and mercy towards undeserving sinners. The purpose of faithguard, is to glorify God, by defending and confirming the gospel of Jesus Christ.
